The One World Festival 2009

On Saturday 20th June, the Fairtrade group teamed up with the Kenya Committee again to run a stall at the One World Festival in High Lea Park.

Our aim was to raise awareness of Fairtrade and let people know what activities the Fairtrade and Kenya teams do in school. We had the ever popular Tombola, a Chocolate Tasting Challenge and the "Where in the World" quiz. For this, entrants had to identify places in the world that produced Fairtrade goods and give their grid references. The lucky winner took home a luxury box of Fairtrade chocolates! We also had a Kenya quiz and some Kenyan recipe leaflets to take away. Mrs. Carter's range of Kenyan jewellery and gifts also sold very well and between us we took £135 on the day.

Despite the rain, the stall was constantly busy and takings were up over 30% on last year! The proceeds will go to the Kenya committee to help reach their £5000 target for the Lodungokwe School in Samburu, Kenya.
