Marketing Tips

Is your branding losing you business?

Trust us, the quality of your branding can mean the difference between success and failure. No matter what size your business is, branding is essential to differentiate yourself from the competition. It’s your personality.

And it needn’t cost the earth. You don’t have to be Coca Cola to have a brand. How you’re perceived will depend on the effort you put into your marketing communication.

Your logo is central to your brand. Compare your logo with your competitors. If it’s not better or at least as compelling, then you need some logo surgery. And sharpish. Without a logo – or worse, with a poorly designed one – your organisation may look amateurish. You may be thinking “I can live without a logo”. Yes, probably you can. But, a great logo will help your customers identify with you and is more likely to help you succeed.

“The more elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate.”

Joseph Priestley

It isn’t just about your logo though. Keep a similar “look and feel” through all your communications to help people become familiar with your brand. Familiarity leads to trust. Trust leads sales. And we don’t have to tell you what sales lead to. Apply a consistent look and feel to any marketing material, products and advertising through a coherent use of colours, themes, design elements and typefaces. We can help you with this if you need it.

We understand the importance of having everything you do look consistent, from your business cards, to your leaflets, to your website. That’s where we can help. Chances are if you have a logo it may just need a cheeky refresh to bring it into the 21st century and to evolve your business. Or we can come up with something totally new for you. And we can produce business cards, stationery, leaflets, websites, even email newsletters that are consistent with your brand. Those first impressions count, but don’t forget about those lasting impressions.

Top Tip to work your business cards harder – don’t just plonk on a logo and contact details. Think of your cards as a “micro brochure” and follow one or two of these tips.

Ten ways to make your cards work harder

  1. Use the reverse – it’s crying out for attention.
  2. Pop a map and directions on the reverse.
  3. Ask a direct question that only you can answer.
  4. Blast a picture of your website on.
  5. Splash up striking images of your products.
  6. Highlight some of your killer benefits.
  7. Leave them in restaurants and bars.
  8. Stick them up on noticeboards in stores.
  9. Stick them inside magazines at the dentist.
  10. Give two at a time – one for them, one for a friend.
